“Beyond the words, I especially expect strong actions“, declares Monday July 24 on franceinfo Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément, UDI mayor of Mennecy (Essonne) and vice-president of the association of mayors of Ile-de-France. He reacted to the interview given by Emmanuel Macron Monday from Nouméa and during which the president returned to the urban riots, recalling that it was necessary above all to “the order“.

An opinion shared by Mayor UDI: “We are in a country that needs a return to order and to a form of authority, morality, a kind of respect for values“. But beyond the words, the chosen one wants above all actions: “We now need concrete things […] We centrists in the UDI believe that order should be a priority over words“, he adds.
Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément points to a form of “paradox” from the Head of State, “to insist on the republican order while maintaining a Prime Minister who comes from the left and supporting the forces of order with fingertips“. For the vice-president of the association of mayors of Ile-de-France, it is necessary above all “get out of the ‘at the same time‘”. He details his point: “We have traumatized law enforcement, who want to hang up, who are poorly paid and not considered. Today we need to have a form of consideration given to them“.
The centrist salutes in passing the work of the police: “If we were able to get out in just a few days – and the president was pleased – of the situation of riots that we experienced with homicide attempts on local elected officials, on mayors, it is also because we have law enforcement who held up“. According to him, “so we can’t be in half measures“.
