“Beyond the Quatennens case, this rule of exemplarity applies to all parties,” underlines Céline Piques, spokesperson for Dare to Feminism!

The feminist association is relieved by the withdrawal of Adrien Quatennens in the 1st constituency of the North, but deplores that other parties are nominating candidates indicted or convicted of domestic violence for the early legislative elections.

“Beyond the Quatennens case, this rule, this demand for exemplarity, applies to all parties”, recalls on franceinfo, Sunday June 16, Céline Piques, spokesperson for Dare to Feminism! She welcomes the withdrawal of Adrien Quatennens in the 1st constituency of the North, but she is indignant that this decision only comes after a long fight by feminists. “I am sorry that it is Aurélien Lecoq who is now invested”. She recalls that “Amy Bah was there” and underlines the “need for feminist candidates” for these early legislative elections.

The fight against sexist and sexual violence is underplayed in other parties, given their nominations, she believes: “I am absolutely stunned to see that in the presidential majority, for example, we still have Mr. Abad, indicted for rape, who is invested with local support” and other cases, with “Mr. Peyrat in Dordogne, convicted of domestic violence and who is also a candidate for the elections.”

It also recalls the responsibility of voters to have “a vote which is also exemplary on these questions and to say no, we cannot imagine that feminist questions are raised by people, by men who have been convicted of domestic violence or who are indicted for rape.”

Céline Piques adds to conclude that 130 feminist associations are united in a movement, Feminist Alerts, to block the extreme right, because “Women’s rights will be the first target of the National Rally today”. A day of demonstration is planned for June 23.
