Driver’s license scams are on a frightening scale. On the Internet, some offers offer the purchase of a fake driving license, to avoid losing points, or paying a fine.
On the net, some sites offer Internet users to “keep” their points and their money. For a speeding ticket, one of the traffickers claims that 75 euros is enough to keep all the points. The modus operandi is simple: the trafficker proposes to contest the fine received by the customer, by attaching a foreign driving license to it. “There is no prosecution against foreign permits”, he explains.
Although illegal, this practice is attracting more and more motorists who do not wish to lose their license. “I didn’t feel like I was doing anything illegal, I was naive and thought I could get around the system”, confides one of them, who ended up receiving a judicial summons for slanderous denunciation. The license used in place of his had already been used 14,000 times, and that is how the fraud was detected. For this false denunciation, the driver incurs a penalty of 5 years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
