Stade Rennais will have to do without much of its usual framework this Sunday in Nancy in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France. Bruno Genesio’s men are deprived of their African internationals Alfred Gomis (who also suffers from Covid), Hamari Traoré, Nayef Aguerd and Kamaldeen Sulemana, who have left to compete in the CAN in Cameroon with their respective selections. To these packages already planned, are added several cases of Covid in the Rennes workforce.
Omari, Terrier and Bourigeaud in isolation
Three usual holders of the Rennes eleven were affected by the virus after the break: Benjamin Bourigeaud, Warmed Omari and Martin Terrier. Romain Salin is also in isolation, but the Rennes goalkeeper was unavailable for this match anyway, after his injury in the previous round against Lorient. Young people Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna are also affected.
These absences cause a massacre in defense for Bruno Genesio, who can only count on Lorenz Assignon, Loïc Badé and Adrien Truffert as training defenders available in the professional workforce. The young Noah Françoise, a training midfielder but used to playing in central defense with the N3, was therefore called up with the pros for this trip to Nancy. Midfielder Trésor Matondo and Junior winger Kadile also benefit from these absences to join the first team.
