Our little schoolchildren from Berry are on vacation but not all of them are in front of the television or in the summer camp. In Indre, some children are more studious than others. During the All Saints holidays, they revise and follow a success course. For ten years, this refresher course is offered to all students, from CP to CM2, of the department. It allows children to learn, develop their knowledge and get a little ahead, while having fun. At the Saint Exupéry elementary school in Issoudun, around ten students signed up for the success course.

Make math fun
Every morning, during the first week of the holidays, the little schoolchildren are back on the school benches. They follow three hours of lessons per day. “If you have four cards each and you are five, how many cards in total?”asks the mistress. “20 cards”proudly replies a student.
The children do exercises in mathematics, French, but also games, not to mention recreation. “It’s so good to go to schoolenthuses Lina, a pupil of CE1. We can work, read and play with our friends”.
The idea of the internship is to help children who have deficiencies in do not lose the rhythm during the holidays. “We work on the difficulties highlighted by the assessments, mainly in mathematics and French. We solve problems, we read aloud, all in the form of a game”explains Elodie Meunier, the mistress.
Small groups of five students
The children also find themselves in a very small class. “These are small groups of 5 or 6 students, they can work differently, collaboratively, and they have a special relationship with the teacher”emphasizes Jean-Paul Obellianne, DASEN (academic director of the national education services) of Indre.
In total, 160 pupils from 17 primary schools in the department follow an internship of success during the autumn holidays. They are accompanied by about thirty teachers.
