Berry local authorities denounce the shoddy work of subcontractors

While the Berrichons are impatiently awaiting the fiber optic deployment, the departmental services in charge of digital are sounding the alarm. “We are faced with work of dubious quality from subcontractors“explains Christophe Courtemanche, director of RIP 36, the Public Initiative Network in Indre.

The four incumbent operators, Orange, Bouygues, SFR and Free, would use subcontracting companies for the last stage of deployment: the connection between the technical cabinet and the subscriber. But these companies would not all be very competent. “We have cables passed haphazardly that will prevent tomorrow from passing others, the neighbor who was already connected and who finds himself cut off because we disconnect him by installing another subscriber…” list annoyed Pascal Bourdillon, director of Berry Numérique in the Cher. And for the private individual, it is not better: “Some technicians staple cables in the middle of the wall rather than pass it neatly in a corner or make holes in the frames…

Happy mess in the technical cabinets

As for the technical cabinets, they are regularly completely disorganized : “We send technicians to restore order and a few weeks later, we have to do it again! “Operations that have a cost… so it’s so much wasted money.

An attitude that deeply annoys Berry Numérique and Rip 36: “Not only is it detrimental for the subscriber but it is also detrimental for our territories“. In effect, the Berry bets on telework to attract newcomers and encourage settlement in our territories. And for that, you have to a quality digital installation. Local authorities are therefore asking operators to take their responsibility and control their subcontractors more.
