Berri-UQAM station | Man arrested in connection with assault of homeless man

Steven Glembock, a resident of La Prairie, was charged Friday in Montreal with aggravated assault for attacking a homeless man at the Berri-UQAM station. The victim is still in hospital in critical condition, two weeks after the attack.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) announced in a press release that it had arrested a 32-year-old man on Thursday in La Prairie, in Montérégie, on the South Shore of Montreal. A search of his residence was also carried out by investigators from the South Criminal Investigation Section of the SPVM.

According to the denunciation, Steven Glembock is accused of having committed serious assault against his victim, “by injuring, mutilating, disfiguring him, endangering his life”.

The attack allegedly occurred on September 10 at the Berri-UQAM metro station, in the entrance leading to Place Dupuis. Around 6:30 p.m., SPVM officers found a man in his fifties with a “significant head injury.” The investigation established that the victim had been attacked, then thrown to the ground a few minutes earlier by the suspect, who fled.

The victim, who is homeless, is still in hospital in critical condition, specifies the SPVM.

Mr. Glembock was accompanied by two women during the attack, also indicates the SPVM. “Investigation procedures are still underway to identify them, because they are considered important witnesses to the event. »
