Upon landing on the West Coast, Bernard Montiel took stock of his professional life and this observation plunged him into dark thoughts. In Do not touch My TV this Wednesday, April 13, the former star of TF1 indicated that he had already thought of the worst: “I will be honest. I almost committed suicide.“By discovering the flabbergasted faces of the columnists and of Cyril Hanouna, Bernard Montiel explained himself on this abyss that he crossed in the early 1980s:”When I left bailiff, I didn’t know what to do with my life. I didn’t have a round anyway.”
Bernard Montiel, at his worst at this turning point in his life, therefore thought of ending his life: “I had rented a car, I had a bit of bailiff money. I went to Los Angeles, I rented a car, I saw the coast pass in front of me to go to Sacramento, all that and I said to myself ‘I’m going to go for it’. But really. I was in tears and everything. I never told it.”
The 64-year-old host and actor was then unaware of the fate that awaited him on television. Lost at this period of his existence and without work, Bernard Montiel saw only the negative: “The problem is that when you have no more money, when you no longer return to France, it’s a mess!“Fortunately, the future became clearer and Bernard Montiel was able to bounce back. He could only see, with the success he encountered, that his talent was nothing short of a gag.
