Bernard Hinault inaugurates a new section for the best young cyclists in Indre

Seven clubs from Indre have given their agreement so that the best juniors can join this new structure, U19 Formation Fenioux 36. These young people will therefore attend this new club. It was the former French champion Nicolas Dubois (former sports director of UC Châteauroux in 2006) and Éric Hervouet, president of the “Sport en grand” association which supports the new structure, who had this idea.

These two cycling enthusiasts made an observation: cycling schools function well up to junior and cadet levels. But on the other hand, the juniors leave the department as soon as they become hopefuls. They go to more upscale clubs in the national division, often to Orleans. “Our goal is to set up a training path that continues after the cadets. The objective is to keep these future riders in their respective clubs for as long as possible and at the same time that we continue to train them so that they can go to the next level, because the gap between juniors and hopefuls is huge“, specifies Éric Hervouet.

“If someone tells me that one of our French riders is going to win the Tour de France, I’m not going to say that I’m going to be a priest, but I’m paying myself plums.” Bernard Hinault quintuple winner of the Great Loop

Bernard Hinault was present at the Fenioux laboratories this Saturday. He shared his feelings about our future nuggets. He greatly appreciates Julian Alaphilippe. “When I saw him go out this year at the Tour de France in Landerneau, 1.7km from the finish I said to myself, it’s not possible he can’t go to the finish line. We would almost have tears in our eyes when we see that! But now it’s not being mean to others. Some are made to believe that one day they will win the Tour and that is not true. If anyone is able to tell me that one of our French riders will win the round. I’m not going to say that I’m going to be a priest but I’m paying myself plums.” Nicknamed the Badger, the Breton menhir or the boss, the five-time winner of the most beautiful race in the world has a bright future ahead of him. He continues to cycle in his native Brittany but he now admits to riding his bike not in winter as at the moment but as soon as the sun is back.
