At the start of the week, the Minister of Education presented his new dashboard to us. A tool that should make his work easier, because both Mr. Drainville and his predecessors were navigating without having all the information.
It’s still fascinating to see how difficult it is for the minister to have an overall plan for his network. Now we have to know if his new painting will change the situation.
Are we going to still experience chaos every August regarding the lack of teachers? Will students have better quality teaching thanks to this table?

Following the presentation of the dashboard, Mr. Drainville also launched the idea of setting up a ranking. It didn’t take much time to see an outcry from unions and school service center management.
It’s not surprising! All the players in the education network do not want to see changes. Everyone likes the status quo.
If our network worked perfectly, we could understand why stakeholders are resistant to change. But, when we see what is happening on the ground, striving for excellence should be an ideal.
The minister is not going to compare different establishments just for the sake of it, it is a way of ensuring that everyone improves at the same time.

Big test
In the coming months, Mr. Drainville will undergo a test. Now that collective agreements have been signed in the world of education, the minister has no choice but to move forward and go for it.
He will have to face solid obstacles in front of him. It will be up to us, the parents, to support him in the face of the storm.
Because our children deserve better and Mr. Drainville cannot give up in the face of resistance.
