Berlin Open | Donna Vekic and Petra Kvitova will face off in the final

(Berlin) Donna Vekić will face Petra Kvitová in the final in Berlin after both players prevailed twice on Saturday.

Vekić edged out Maria Sakkari 6-4, 7-6 (8). Shortly before, she had beaten Elina Avanesyan 6-2, 7-6 (0), in a quarter-final postponed due to rain.

Sixth-seeded Sakkari defeated Markéta Vondroušová 7-6(7), 6-1 in the quarter-finals.

However, she lost to Croatian Vekic, who converted her fourth match point to reach a second final this season.

Wimbledon champion in 2011 and 2014, Kvitová first beat Caroline Garcia 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Then she ended a seven-game winning streak for Ekaterina Alexandrova, winning their semi-final 6-3, 6-4.
