Berlin International Film Festival | Steven Spielberg will receive an honorary Golden Bear

(Berlin) Steven Spielberg will be honored at the Berlin International Film Festival in February.


Festival organizers announced on Tuesday that the 75-year-old American director, producer and screenwriter will receive an honorary Golden Bear, the annual event’s top prize, to recognize his body of work comprising more than 100 films and series. .

Spielberg’s multiple Oscar-winning work is “unique in the history of international cinema for the past 60 years for its immense variety,” the festival said.

The filmmaker’s productions are vast, ranging from AND at Schindler’s list. The Berlin festival will also screen his latest film, The Fabelmans.

Festival co-directors Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian added that Spielberg had enchanted audiences from all over the world, and “brought new meaning to ‘cinema’ as a dream factory”.

The event in Berlin, the first of the major film festivals in Europe, will take place from February 16 to 26.
