Brad Marchand and Derek Forbort also rocked the ropes for the Bruins, who overcame a poor start to the game against a team recently diminished by COVID-19.

The Senators, who canceled Monday’s training session for preventative reasons, were deprived of five players and an assistant instructor, all of whom were placed in the NHL’s COVID protocol.

David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy had two assists, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman blocked 24 shots.

This victory was the 200e for head coach Bruce Cassidy since taking over, and the fifth in as many home attempts.

Zach Sanford and Nikita Zaitsev hit the Senators’ goals. Goalie Matt Murray made 33 saves for the Senators, who suffered a fifth straight loss, and an eighth in nine outings.
