Bergeron, Marner and Hischier are finalists for the Selke Trophy

Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs is one of three finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy.

This trophy is given to the attacker who stands out the most in the defensive aspect of the game.

The other candidates are Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins and Nico Hischier of the New Jersey Devils.

Marner led the circuit in stealing the puck 104 times.

Bergeron led the league with 1,043 faceoffs, finishing first in that category for the eighth time in his career.

No first draft player has yet obtained the Selke. That could change with Hischier, who was picked first in 2017.

For the Lady Byng Trophy (combining the highest degree of sportsmanship with hockey skills), in the running are Jack Hughes (Devils), Anze Kopitar (Kings) and Brayden Point (Lightning).

Winners will be announced at the NHL Gala on June 26 at Bridgestone Arena, home of the Nashville Predators.
