Benoît Poelvoorde continues the films! Mystery in Saint-Tropez, Farewell Paris and now Inexorable. The popular 57-year-old Belgian is extending his filmography on the big screen but has yielded, like so many others, to the sirens of Netflix. Indeed, we found it in 2020 in How I became a superhero alongside Leïla Bekhti and Pio Marmaï. And the filming, which took place a year before, was complicated as he recently revealed after being forced to remain silent…
It was with BFMTV, in promotion for his new film, that Benoît Poelvoorde made some belated confidences: he suffered from a health glitch on the set! In the feature film directed by Douglas Attal, he played the character of Monté Carlo, an ex-vigilante who will help two police officers who seek to stop a traffic of substances giving superpowers to ordinary people. “Yeah, well, well, I’m not in great shape in the movie! You don’t see me running much. Besides, I refused! I even caught orchitis [une inflammation des testicules, NDLR]. I shot with a ball like a pineapple!“, he dropped with his legendary outspokenness to our colleagues.
Benoît Poelvoorde made this surprising confidence late because, at the time of the promotion of the film – a giant projection had in particular been organized by Netflix in the Carrée courtyard of the Louvre in Paris – the team in charge of communication did not want him speaks. “I could never say it in promo. They didn’t want to, because Netflix was distributing and now I can say… I broke lots of stuff on set. I will regret it in 15 or 20 years, like Gérard Depardieu. It’s broken everywhere“, adds the actor, who gives himself body and soul to his roles but knows his limits. “I don’t wonder about my age, but I know there are things I can’t do. I can not do North ferry ! Nobody’s gonna believe me if I put on two earrings and pump up my muscles“, he says.
