The charges are heavier against the world football champion, Benjamin Mendy. Two new rape complaints are now targeting the Manchester City defender, already accused of rape and sexual assault.
Benjamin Mendy is summoned Wednesday November 17 before the court of Stockport, in the suburbs of Manchester (United Kingdom). The football player should make it known on this occasion whether he intends to plead guilty or not to the charges of rape and sexual assault against him. “On Tuesday, the charges against him increased again, with two new complaints. He is therefore now charged and in detention for six rapes and one sexual assault.”, explains the correspondent of France Télévisions in London, Matthieu Boisseau.
The acts were allegedly committed between October 2020 and August 2021. “There are four plaintiffs, including a minor, all aged 16 or over. The trial of Benjamin Mendy and a suspected accomplice is set to start on January 24. If the Manchester City defender pleads guilty, he faces criminal imprisonment life imprisonment and if he is sentenced, he risks at least several years in prison “, specifies Matthieu Boisseau. Benjamin Mendy has already been suspended from his club. He was world champion with the France team in 2018.
