Benjamin Ledig is starting to make a name for himself on social networks… But not necessarily for the right reasons. Last week, the Tiktokeur was at the heart of a lively controversy. On the Web, the young man dressed in a croc too immortalized himself twerking – in a church – imitated by a friend. His video shocked thousands of internet users. Very quickly, Benjamin Ledig was the target of death threats. On February 18, the main interested party came out of his silence to explain himself on the set of Do not touch My TV on C8. The opportunity for him to specify that he did not want “hurt anyone”.
“I didn’t wake up one morning in my bed thinking I was going to make this video. We were both on the street with my friend and we passed in front of a church. We just wanted to laugh. There was no preparation of the video. We just wanted to have a laugh in the church. Basically, we didn’t want to post it. We were alone and there was no music. We had no intention of posting it afterwards”, confided Benjamin Ledig. “It’s impossible to imagine that it would be seen by so many people. You are not prepared for this (…) I denounced something by posting it and making it public (…) Since I have been on the networks, there are plenty of people who think that I should go into the right path and that God should guide me (…) Because I have relationships with men and I wear women’s clothes. I wanted to make a small affront to all that (…) I especially wanted to denounce the homophobia which is very present in the church and which I have suffered for 2 years”.
After being discreet on the Web, Benjamin Ledig decided to sign his big comeback with a shocking video. This time facing the camera and with a more sober outfit, the influencer dances again in a church… while apologizing. “Today I wanted to apologize to everyone I may have hurt. I didn’t realize it at the time.” underlined the young man, mimicking suggestive poses. “I will correct myself in the future to become a better person”.
In a few hours, the post made the rounds of social networks… And it had the merit of annoying Internet users. “Who the fuck is he kidding?”, “Stop giving him attention”, “It’s sad… In search of buzz.
