And one more which makes three for the flag bearer of the French delegation! After going for gold on Wednesday in the sprint in cross-country skiing and Friday in the long distance in biathlon, Benjamin Daviet brought back a new medal for the Blues at these Paralympic Games in Beijing, the 10th.
On Saturday March 12, the 32-year-old Haut-Savoyard failed just over a second from the highest step of the podium over the medium distance in cross-country skiing (12.5 km), to finally have to settle for the ‘money. This is the 9th Paralympic medal of his career.

History will remember that Benjamin Daviet came very close to a crazy comeback this Friday in Zhangjiakou. Author of a rather cautious start on the Chinese track – the 32-year-old cross-country skier will count up to more than 20 seconds behind his competitors – he clawed back second after second, regaining his delay along the 12.5 kilometer race .
Under the encouragement of Vincent Duchêne, head coach of the French Nordic para-skiing team, the skier from Grand-Bornand, who had almost eight seconds of outlay on Chenyang Wang before the last kilometer, gave it his all. But the Chinese, amputated with both arms, managed to preserve his title for 1.3 seconds. What leave some regrets to the tricolor athlete with the most medals of these Games with Arthur Bauchet (three charms).
There is now one final event to compete for Benjamin Daviet: the open relay (4 x 2.5 km) with Anthony Chalençon, once again at the foot of the podium on Saturday (4th) in the visually impaired category. A symbolic race for the two men in more ways than one since it was in this race that they both won medals for the first time at the Games. The appointment is made, therefore, Sunday from 5 a.m. on France.tv then France 3.
