The Bengals rallied from an 18-point deficit – tying an AFC Finals record – to take a 24-21 lead. Harrison Butker’s 44-yard kick as the final seconds ticked away forced overtime. Butker played the same trick the previous week against the Buffalo Bills with a 49-yard field goal in the final moments of the game.

A week after Bills quarterback Josh Allen picked the wrong side of the coin to start overtime – which gave the ball to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs – Bengals backup quarterback Brandon Allen also lost in the draw.

The Chiefs went into overtime with the ball, but Vonn Bell intercepted Mahomes’ pass after a third down, then Joe Burrow and the Bengals got the upper hand.

The Bengals will take part in the Super Bowl for the first time since January 1989.

The Bengals (13-7) will face off at 49ers San Francisco or the Los Angeles Rams during the Super Bowl on February 13 in Los Angeles.

Mahomes and the Chiefs (14-6) had the chance to play in a third consecutive Super Bowl.
