For Benedicta, it all starts with oil and vinegar. In 1907, in Seclin, in the north of France (today the Hauts-de-France region), Prosper Eeckman created his vinegar factory. The Benedicta company grew over the years and produced its first sauces and mayonnaise. The brand now offers 29 different sauces, and mayonnaise remains the best-selling product with 13% market share in France.

The 6 production lines and 140 employees are still located in Seclin. Other figures to remember: 80 million euros in turnover for 40 million jars sold each year. Note this year a rejuvenated design and a new format of 80 grams per pot.

Revitalize the business

Todayexplains Andrej Bjegovic, the French president of the brand, one in three French people is a Benedicta consumer. Our goal is to get to at least one out of two.”

Since 2021, Benedicta has been moving closer to 100% French production. Eggs and oil are almost no longer purchased abroad. Even if Covid, the war in Ukraine, then inflation, affected the company with a rise in prices and, at times, a shortage of mustard.

Despite its good results, Benedicta faces regular discontent from its employees. Inflation, pension reform, modernization of the Seclin site. Andrej Bjegovic believes that the objective remains to “revitalize the site and the company even if it is sometimes complicated”.
