Belzile and Ylönen recalled urgently by the Canadian

Forward Jonathan Drouin was back with his teammates when the Montreal Canadiens resumed training Thursday at the Bell Sports Complex.

Drouin has missed the team’s last seven games with an upper-body injury sustained three games earlier against the Nashville Predators.

In 28 games this season, Drouin has been limited to 12 assists. He found himself on the right of Michael Pezzetta and Alex Belzile in training.

Belzile and Jesse Ylönen were recalled from the Laval Rocket earlier in the morning.

They were with the big club before the All-Star game break.

Belzile, 31, has four assists in five games this season with the Habs.

As for Ylönen, 23, he has two assists in 10 games with the Bleu-blanc-rouge so far this season.

Belzile notably participated in the American Hockey League All-Star Game last weekend at Place Bell.

The Rocket captain has scored 14 goals and added 12 assists to his record in 31 games with the Canadiens’ farm club this season. For his part, Ylönen has stood out with nine goals and 21 assists in 36 games with the Rocket so far in 2022-23.

The Canadian will play two games in two days this weekend. He will first host the New York Islanders at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, before doing the same the next day at the same time against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Meanwhile, defenseman Joel Edmundson and forward Sean Monahan practiced ahead of their teammates on Thursday.

Edmundson missed the Habs’ last two games with an upper-body injury. Monahan hasn’t played since Dec. 5 with a right foot injury.
