(Geneva) Tennis player and Olympic champion Belinda Bencic is pregnant with her first child.
The 26-year-old Swiss woman and her partner Martin Hromkovič, a former professional soccer player who is also her physical trainer, announced the news on Instagram on Friday.
“We’re expecting our little miracle soon!” We look forward to meeting you,” Bencic wrote.
She did not say when she was due or talk about her plans to return to competition.
Bencic has won two singles tournaments this season on the WTA Tour, but has not played in the last six weeks, since the San Diego Open. She occupies 14e rank in the world rankings.
At the Tokyo Olympics, presented in 2021, Bencic won the gold medal in singles and silver in doubles for Switzerland, alongside Viktorija Golubic.
In 2024, the Olympic tennis tournament will be held at the French Open site, starting July 27.
