A Belgian priest was imprisoned after the death of a British clergyman with whom he had consumed ecstasy and poppers, the prosecutor’s office in the port city of Antwerp (Belgium) announced on Saturday September 28. He is being prosecuted for “drug dealing leading to death”.

The 60-year-old man of the Church had called emergency services when the 69-year-old Briton, who was staying with him in Kalmthout, north of Antwerp, felt unwell shortly after midnight. Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the man, but without success.

The first findings of the police, the laboratory and the forensic doctor showed that the two men “used ecstasy and poppers together and had sex“, specified the prosecution. The investigation into the exact cause of death is continuing, the autopsy having not provided a definitive answer at this stage.
