Belgian journalist Wilson Fache winner of the 85th Albert Londres prize

Belgian journalist Wilson Fache won 85th on Mondaye Albert Londres prize, the most prestigious award for French-speaking journalism, for his reports on Afghanistan, the Tel Aviv bus station and Ukraine, announced the jury.

In addition to the premier category, written press, the 39e audiovisual prize was awarded to Hélène Lam Trong for her documentary Daesh, the ghost children (broadcast on France 5), about the children of French jihadists growing up in Syria.

Finally, the 7e book prize crowned Nicolas Legendre for Silence in the fields (Ed. Arthaud), investigation into Breton agro-industry.

On the occasion of the 90e anniversary of the prize (not awarded from 1940 to 1945), the jury composed of former winners met in Vichy, a city in central France where Albert Londres (1884-1932), the father of great modern reporting, was born.

The award bearing his name was awarded for the first time in 1933 and went to Émile Condroyer for his reports in the daily The newspaper.

Those of the 2023 winner, Wilson Fache, were published by French daily newspapers Release (on Afghanistan) and Belgian The Echo (on Afghanistan and Ukraine), and by the French magazine Movement (at Tel Aviv bus station).

The jury praised the “rare pen” of the 31-year-old Belgian journalist, his “talent for evocation” and his “ability to take his audience into atmospheres”.

Independent journalist, Wilson Fache covers the Middle East and major international news for numerous media (RTBF, RFI, Release, The Orient-The DayRTS, RTL…).

The audiovisual reporting prize was created in 1985 and that for the best “investigation and reporting book” in 2017. The winners each receive 5,000 euros.

To be eligible for the Albert Londres prize, candidates must be French-speaking and under 41 years old.

A press card is not required to compete for the prize, which is open to all types of press (economic, political, sporting, cultural, etc.).

Journalists can submit their applications as individuals: it is not necessary to be recommended by a newspaper, broadcaster, production company or publisher.
