Beijingers are preparing to face a new confinement on April 26, when the Chinese authorities have launched a vast screening campaign.

The inhabitants of the Chinese capital are preparing for the worst and there are rushes to supermarkets where the food shelves are emptying quickly. The capital is preparing for a possible confinement. The authorities want to be reassuring: “fresh food stores will remain open 24 hours a day, and deliveries can be made at any time.” There have been officially 92 cases of Covid-19 in Beijing since Friday April 22, so the capital is on a war footing.

On the morning of April 26, you had to wait in long queues in order to carry out mandatory Covid-19 screening. This week, 20 million people will be tested three times.
