“The 222 incredible athletes – 107 women and 115 men – who make up Team USA are not only ready to compete, but they are ready to make this country proud,” said USOPC boss Sarah Hirshland.

The US team has 99 Games-experienced members, four of whom will be five-time Olympians – Shaun White in halfpipe snowboarding, Lindsey Jacobellis in snowboard cross, Katie Uhlaender in skeleton and John Shuster in curling.

For eight others, including Kaillie Humphries, two-time Olympic women’s bobsleigh champion for Canada, but who recently obtained American citizenship, this will be their fourth participation.

Twelve members of Team USA have already been Olympic champions: three times for White (2006, 2010 and 2018) and twice for Mikaela Shiffrin (alpine skiing), Humphries, Jamie Anderson (slopestyle and big air snowboarding) and David Wise (freestyle skiing half Moon).

The youngest member of Team USA in Beijing will be Alysa Liu, born August 8, 2005, who will be just 16 years and 6 months old when she competes in figure skating.
