A 52-year-old man was stabbed to death in the City of Sherbrooke.
The attack occurred in a residence on Gillespie Street in downtown Sherbrooke around 5:10 a.m. this morning.
There were fears for the life of the man who was transported to hospital where his death was unfortunately confirmed.
“At present, investigators are trying to clarify the causes and circumstances that led to this event,” said Camille Savoie, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. “They are also attempting to make an arrest of a suspect in this investigation.”
A suspect has therefore still not been apprehended.
The investigation led by the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) was transferred to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The Office of Independent Investigations (BEI) also confirmed that they would open an investigation into this matter. Moreover, five investigators were tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the intervention.
Remember that the BEI’s mission is to shed complete light on the facts surrounding the police intervention. The BEI investigates all cases where a person, other than a police officer on duty, dies, suffers serious injury or is injured by a firearm used by a police officer during a police intervention or while in custody of a body from police.
