behind the scenes, France Insoumise turns the page on pension reform

Officially, the mobilization against the pension reform remains total. Behind the scenes, however, an observation was made in the political committee on Monday evening: the sequence is over. The members of France Insoumise are already working on this. Jean-Rémi Baudot’s political brief.

The protest against the pension reform will never stop“: this is what hammered Tuesday, June 13 on the set of 8:30 a.m. franceinfo, MP Manuel Bompard, coordinator of France Insoumise. Officially, therefore, the struggle continues. Moreover, did not the Nupes deputies sign last Thursday “the oath of June 8”, promising to “never give up the fight against retirement at 64 and continue with the common objective of the right to retire at 60“?

However, Monday evening, during the political council of France Insoumise, the atmosphere was quite different. Among the executives present, several recognize this: “There sequence of retreats is closed“. A relative of Jean-Luc Mélenchon agrees: “There is no more mobilization. Macron will not back down, we are entering a new period“. An LFI deputy nevertheless ventures to make a prognosis: “The parliamentary mobilization is at halftime, a truce. It can resume“.

“We didn’t win, but they lost”

It’s time to take stock of these months of struggle, a bitter but not definitive statement. A leitmotif is rising in the ranks of the rebellious: “We didn’t win, but they lost politically“. In the entourage of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, if the inventory has begun, you will not find anyone to deplore the LFI strategy in the Assembly, including the thousands of amendments and the obstruction.

Even more, within La France Insoumise, we applaud the unity of the unions, the mobilization of society. Only regrets: the lack of dialogue between the inter-union and the Nupes and not having succeeded in bringing the private sector on board. “Without real blockage of the economy, it does not work“, thus analyzes a deputy.

Capturing the anger resulting from the pension reform

What can France Insoumise bounce back on? This is one of the questions that was discussed Monday evening in the political committee. The subject of wages should remain central: “We must resume our battle over the dear life”, decrypts a frame. Also to be revived: ecology or the 6e République, at the heart of the LFI project.

So many themes that will be discussed this weekend during the representative assembly of the party, one of the new bodies of LFI with local representatives drawn by lot, responsible for raising the ambitions of the field. “In constituency, people are angry at pensions“, recalls a deputy. It remains to be seen how to capture this anger politically. This will be the whole issue of the coming weeks among the Insoumis.
