Film buffs will be able to discover in exactly one year the new romantic comedy “December 23”, scripted by India Desjardins.
The cast has not yet been revealed, while filming is getting underway these days under the leadership of director Miryam Bouchard (“Mon cirque à moi”, “M’entends-tu?”, “L ‘ Escape ”). The film is set to premiere on November 25, 2022.
The screenplay by India Desjardins, author of the children’s literary series “Le journal d’Aurélie Laflamme”, is aimed this time at audiences of all ages. According to what was unveiled Wednesday, the story takes place in the frenzy of two Christmas Eve and makes a “nod to the famous song of Beau Dommage”, “December 23”.
“I love Christmas movies and wanted to write one where female characters were front and center,” India Desjardins said in a statement.
“I came up with the idea for this project in 2011 and during the years I wrote this movie, I experienced cranky Christmases, sad Christmases and ultimately happier Christmases,” she continued. I have stored them and it is through these various emotions that I want to convey the spectators. The holiday pressure that pushes us to want to achieve everything before Christmas and which sometimes brings to the surface the fear of loneliness is in my opinion a universal theme. Several characters will have to go through a few obstacles, including a snowstorm, and will meet each other unexpectedly before they can arrive at Christmas at the same time as everyone else. ”
The film “December 23” is produced by Guillaume Lespérance of A Média Films and will be distributed by Les Films Seville.
