Yannick Morez resigned last week as mayor of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, in Loire-Atlantique, after his home was burned down. On Wednesday May 17, he testified before the Senate and accused the prefect of the department of having left him to his fate, despite his alerts.
Less than a week after his resignation, the former mayor of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins (Loire-Atlantique), Yannick Morez, appeared before the Senate, Wednesday May 17 in the morning, for a hearing. “I was the victim of a criminal attack. Probably an explosive device was thrown or put between my two vehicles which, of course, caught fire, and it spread to my home“, he said. The city councilor had already been the target of threats and insults for months.
Negligence of the prefect?
On Wednesday, he accused the prefect of Loire-Atlantique of having let him down. “When he says that he organized public meetings, I don’t know, from a prefect… Lying brazenly, in public, is still important, he represents the State“, lamented Yannick Morez. He also explains that his alerts to the authorities have also remained dead letters. “The sub-prefect simply told us: ‘Threats, you know, I get them every day‘” he finally reported.
