An extraordinary character. Jérémy Soots has just found the wheel of a truck seven years later. A truck driver, he was the victim of a motorcycle accident which left him paraplegic.
Victim of a road accident in 2016, Jérémy was eager to find his truck. Thanks to a lift attached to the back of his cabin, he gets back behind the wheel after seven long years of waiting. “It was unexpected, honestly I didn’t believe it anymore”, he notes. His cockpit has been specially designed, with a raised brake control and an accelerator that he can hold in his hand.
A pride for the truck driver
The 31-year-old driver has always loved the road and the great outdoors. As soon as he comes of age, he passes all the permits. He notably traveled all over Europe with his 44 tonnes, before losing control of his motorbike in a bend, during a ride. “I lost the front of the bike in the gravel and it ended up behind me”, recalls Jérémy. After seven years of rehabilitation and the passing of a special license, he can now return to the roads. “It is a great pride for me to have successfully completed this project and to be a truck driver in a wheelchair,” he says.
