Become a pro! | Install a faucet

With the explosion in the cost of materials and the shortage of labour, it is time more than ever to reclaim some maintenance or renovation work on your home. Become a pro and take action by performing tasks within everyone’s reach.

Project

A quality faucet makes all the difference. The internal parts are stronger and easier to find in case of breakage, not to mention that it is much more durable. To change a faucet, the steps are simple.

In the first place

Always shut off the water supply before changing the tap. Simply close the shut-off valves of the hot and cold water supply.

It is also necessary to ensure that the new faucet is compatible with its installation. Checking the distance between the two sink holes, which varies from one model to another, is also essential. To ensure that there is no constraint, it is also better to measure the height of the faucet.

If the change is made in a bathroom and the color or material of the new faucet differs, the drain plug must be changed so that the whole thing is more aesthetic.

How to do it

1. Turn off the water. To make sure that everything has been closed, turn on the tap (hot and cold water).

2. Loosen the hot side and cold side hoses. Please note: there is always a little water left in the pipes. Have a dry cloth handy to soak up the water.

A little further

There are different types of accessories for kitchen faucets. Among these, the hand shower that allows you to rinse thoroughly, or the integrated container of hand or dish soap that avoids clutter on the edges of the sink.

Another interesting accessory that we see more and more is the instant hot water dispenser. Heated, the water reaches a temperature of around 80°C. Convenient for cooking or for lovers of hot drinks. The equipment fits under the sink and the dispenser sits next to the faucet.
