The minivan carried six people, but there were also five people inside the heavyweight.
“Of the eleven people involved, six people were seriously injured and we feared for the lives of several of them,” said Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Children are among those seriously injured.
As for the five adults who were in the heavyweight, these also had to be assessed by health care workers.
It was not immediately known what led to this serious road accident.
“There are investigators and reconstructionists who are on site to determine the causes and circumstances of the event. There is no hypothesis that is favored at the moment, ”said Sergeant St-Pierre.
Route 112 was closed in both directions between Route 276 in Saint-Frédéric and Route 173 in Vallée-Jonction for several hours to allow the police to analyze the scene.
