Beauceville: vehicle found in the Chaudière River

A vehicle was pulled out of the Chaudière River in Beauceville on Monday, but no body was inside.

Research had been underway since Sunday afternoon to try to locate the vehicle in the river.

At the end of the day on Monday, after the discovery of the damaged car, maneuvers were carried out to bring it back to dry land. The Sûreté du Québec then confirmed that the driver was not inside.

Searches are now continuing along the banks to locate a remains.

Voluntary gesture or discomfort, all the hypotheses are still plausible.

The maneuvers were perilous in the river, particularly due to the strong current. However, the river is free of ice.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, a person called 911 to report that a vehicle had sunk into the river.

Since then, police and firefighters have worked hard to try to find the famous vehicle, as well as to determine if anyone was on board, explained Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec. (SQ).

According to information collected by the SQ on Sunday evening, there could actually be a person who was on board when leaving the road.

The vehicle would have circulated on the 156and Street to then cross Lambert Street and finally sink into the Chaudière River.

In addition to the search on the water, neighborhood inquiries were underway to try to find out more about the vehicle that disappeared under the waves.
