Beatbox stars and phenomenon on TikTok, the Toulousains of Berywam are preparing for the Olympia

They are four, four friends who have become beatbox stars in a few years with their group Berywam, whose notoriety today goes far beyond our borders. A popularity largely due to social networks and in particular TikTok, where their impressive vocal performances accumulate millions of views. Which makes them the most followed French artists on the platform.

Accustomed to the first parts of the concerts of their friends Big Flo and Oli with their covers of famous artists, the 2018 world beatbox champions have become a music group in their own right. They now have their own compositions, which will feature in an original debut album due out next April. A team of France 3 met them at their home in Toulouse, in full rehearsal.

This beginning of the year 2022 therefore marks a new stage for Berywam, which is embarking on a creative process, abandoning covers, these covers which have made them famous on the internet, with the forthcoming release of an album of their own titles: “We no longer try to reproduce instruments, we are instruments in fact. But also, we have our own sounds, which no instrument can reproduce.“, explains Loïc Barcourt, alias Rythmind. If the album is obviously eagerly awaited by their fans, for the moment the group is focused on another event, and not the least.

On February 11, Berywam will appear on the facade of the Olympia, for their first concert on the legendary Parisian stage. A recognition for the four Toulousains who are preparing very seriously for this unique moment: “When you do an Olympia, you don’t do it every day, so it’s good to do it well and take the time”, says Fabien Di Napoli, aka Beatness. “Especially since we’re going to present new songs that we’ve never played, songs from the album so it’s going to be new. It’s not the pressure, but it’s important to us to do something special“, adds Rythmind.

A growing notoriety which allows them to offer themselves prestigious guests on the album which will be released in April (with the fourth member of the band, Loïc Palmiste alias Beasty, on vocals), such as their childhood friends Big Flo and Oli , but also the Jamaican star Shaggy, but nothing to worry about for the four friends, as Walid Baali, alias Wawad, points out: “We remained quite natural between us, we are friends, really, we are not there only for the music. It’s a kiff in fact, we live a dream every day, we know it and we take advantage of it; and we work hard to keep it going“.
