We find sugar in certain organic toothpastes for our children, this is the conclusion of a survey of 60 million consumers.
What if the ritual of brushing teeth instilled in children from a very young age could be the cause of cavities? This is what the 60 million consumers association reveals in a survey on organic toothpastes for children. Some products mention caramel, fructose or glucose in their composition. According to one of the brands concerned, the latter “allows the gelling agent of natural origin to be stabilized and provides a less liquid and smoother texture”.
“You increase your risk of cavities while cleaning your teeth”
If sugar is present in small quantities, at a maximum of 0.05%, it is not without consequences. “Sugar is what gives energy to bacteria. A fortiori, if we put sugar in toothpaste, that is to say we increase the presence of sugar, including when brushing , you increase your risk of cavities while cleaning your teeth”, confides Dr. Alain Vallory, dentist. According to dentists, a good toothpaste must contain fluoride to better fight bacteria.
