An investigator from the SPA in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) was violently attacked by two women on Wednesday in Saint-Jean-de-Luz while she was going to their home, France Bleu Pays Basque reported on Friday July 5.

The 67-year-old victim went, accompanied by a friend, to the home of two women in Saint-Jean-de-Luz after reports of mistreatment of their dog. “I barely had time to say “SPA“, that they attacked us very violently, real furies” she testifies.

The investigator describes an attack of rare violence: “We were insulted and beaten, we received punches, kicks, scratches… My head hit a wall, it was very physically violent. I had to stay in my car for a good half hour to regain my senses.” she continues.

Joëlle Turcat, co-president of the Bayonne Animal Protection Society, very shocked by this attack, recalled that the SPA does not come “to spy on people, but to have a dialogue and find solutions“. The victim was sentenced to two days of total incapacity for work and will file a complaint. The SPA of Bayonne will be a civil party.
