Other large international companies will come to settle in Quebec to participate in the battery sector, said the Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, in Montreal Monday afternoon.
“Ford, ÉcoPro, GM, POSCO, Volta and Northvolt have all chosen Quebec. And there will be others,” said Minister Fitzgibbon, highlighting the efforts made by Quebec and Investissement Québec to “attract world-class players.”
The minister, who is also responsible for regional economic development, made this declaration as part of a recruitment day for the electric and intelligent transportation (TEI) sector organized by Propulsion Québec.
“For young people and for workers, that means paying jobs,” argued Mr. Fitzgibbon, emphasizing the need for “qualified labor” and “scientific succession”.
To “manufacture the greenest battery in the world”, starting “from the mine to recycling”, it will be necessary to “mobilize motivated and dedicated workers”, argued Mr. Fitzgibbon
