Batman returns to the big screen. A film in which the superhero, created after the Second World War, returns to the sources of the original comic strip.
Always darker and more violent: Batman returns to the movies in the film “The Batman” directed by Michael Reeves. A mysterious character in a bat costume. Born 80 years ago, Batman is one of the very first superheroes. His gadgets are legendary, and his enemies as cult as him, such as the Joker.
Batman appears in American children’s comics on the eve of the Second World War. Born a year before Superman, he is however very different from his counterpart. Starting out, Batman is a detective, but he lacks superpowers. So the writers find the solution by creating a sidekick for him: Robin. Batman is also the only superhero to have an assigned vehicle: the batmobile. Its dark universe has inspired the greatest directors, from Tim Burton to Christopher Nolan.
