Bordeaux artist Bast, originally from the Bassin d’Arcachon, has been playing the piano since his earliest childhood. Very quickly his classical training will lead him to the guitar, which will give him the opportunity from adolescence to play in his first groups: My Heroine, Bellevue Beaches, Daven and Pastel. He is Influenced by artists such as Johnny Cash, Half Moon Run, The Beatles, Andrew Bird, Kiasmos, Mac Demarco, Milky Chance or Lily Wood & The pricks. He now offers his first album “Each Day”, composed and recorded alone (or almost) in his home studio. You will hear in this live of the Nouvelle Scène Aquitaine, songs taken from his first album, Each Day. A total of ten titles including the eponymous title Each Day composed, thinking of a mountain girl, straight out of a painting, who gracefully tumbled down a dry mountain side.
His 1st clip “Each Day” is directed by Kévin Hilairet and produced by Green Sun Records. Shot in the Hautes-Pyrénées next to a small village in the middle of the mountains called Arbéost, it comes out on July 24, 2020 and has more than 35k views. You will also hear, when listening live, the song “Little Sunshines”, composed for her half-sisters, who live in Holland. Bast met his sisters at 25, just five years ago, they were 15 and 18. This song was imagined on the ukulele, during the week spent in Holland. Here is the video clip below.
In each of these live shows, you discover a cover chosen by the guest artist. Bast chose the song Danse de Lomepal because it is a song that speaks of love in a way that is a little raw but poetic at the same time.
Bast: That’s what I like about Lomepal. He is a raw poet, with a river flow that is unlike anything known. With this song, he talks about a woman who seems fatal, with whom he falls in love and shares a passion. This song spoke to me a lot at one time, and I really enjoy singing it.
Finally, the icing on the cake to get to know this artist who is particularly fond of his Gironde land, watch this video clip, the latest clip “Little Man”, released on October 28, 2021, it takes you to the devil’s lair, namely the legendary Femina Theater in Bordeaux.
