Baseball: Bryce Harper is officially back, but without success

The Philadelphia Phillies are at an impasse. Despite the return of their star player Bryce Harper, who had a strong game Wednesday night, the formation of Pennsylvania was swept in three games by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

At Dodger Stadium, the home team won 10-6, scoring 10 or more points in all three games. It’s only the second time since 1958 that the Phillies have allowed 10 points in three straight games.

Thus, frustration took hold of Harper, who, in his second game of the season, struck from the safe in all three appearances at the plate. Recovered from his elbow injury, the double winner of the Most Valuable Player title had been shut out in four appearances the day before.

“It can’t be like this. We gave them the game, he told the Major League Baseball website after the Phillies let go of a 5-1 lead. With the way we want to play this year — or every year — that cannot occur. It’s a very good team on the other side. […] We have to be better.”

Harper’s ninth-inning single saved the Phillies’ chances, but in their turn at bat, the Dodgers added four runs. Max Muncy played the heroes with a grand slam.

Guerrero Jr.’s Big Arms Are Not Enough

Fenway Park doesn’t seem to smile on the Toronto Blue Jays, again defeated by the Red Sox, although Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Daulton Varsho have stretched their arms.

The Dominican expelled the ball 450 feet from home plate, hitting it well past the ‘green monster’. Pitcher Nick Pivetta (2-2) himself seemed impressed with the shot. On the mound for six innings, he recorded the win despite giving up two homers.

For the Sox, Triston Casas, Masataka Yoshida and Enmanuel Valdez each drove in two runs. Alex Manoah (1-2) allowed eight hits and five runs in five innings.

Boston (18-14) has now won its last five games and now has the same number of wins as Toronto (18-13). For the Jays, this is the fourth consecutive loss. They will try to finally beat the Red Sox on Thursday.
