Bars and restaurants at full capacity: other sectors are also calling for flexibility

With the return of bars and restaurants in Quebec at full capacity as of November 1, players from several other circles have in turn called for flexibility.

Homeowners of gyms, funeral homes and the wedding industry believe the time has come to increase the number of people who can attend their establishments.

“We can speak of 30% to 40% loss of turnover. […] People who think that we are back to normal, no, we are not there yet, ”said Francis Latulippe, co-owner and director of Énergie Cardio de Saint-Romuald on Sunday.

As winter approaches, funeral home owners, who must contend with a limit of 50 people, also want a change since they feel left out.

“It becomes extremely difficult to have to deal with this instruction. Winter is coming, we cannot believe that we are going to leave the 51st person outside while waiting to offer their condolences, ”lamented Annie Saint-Pierre, general manager of the Corporation des thanatologues du Québec.

The latter hopes that the reception capacity in funeral homes will be reviewed so that they “update themselves like everyone else”.
