While the cases of Covid-19 increase in Europe, many French people are slacking off and assume their slackness. All age groups and all regions are affected.

In a market in Reims (Marne), the atmosphere is there, everyone is relaxed, including barrier gestures. When the teams of the France Télévisions newspaper ask certain passers-by if they still wear the mask, some laugh. Many assume that they no longer wear it, or much less than before. In Paris, it’s the same. The rules of distancing are less respected than before, especially when regrouping with friends.

Near Limoges (Haute-Vienne), the tea dances are full of old people, who profit after months of prohibition. Very few masks are present on the dance floors. Some assume that the mask is not worn, but feel that they are careful. The lack of ventilation in closed places and rooms does not help in the possible reduction of Covid-19 cases.“All the places where you can spend several hours are places at high risk of contamination”, explains Dr Antoine Flahaut, epidemiologist.
