In addition to the victory of PSG on the lawn of Bayern Munich (1-2), the women’s FC Barcelona won 3 to 1 on Tuesday against Real Madrid in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League with a double from their Ballon d ‘or Alexia Putellas during the first European Women’s Clasico in history.

Madrid, beaten 5-0 in the league eight days ago, opened the scoring in the 8th minute through Olga Carmona and dominated the first period in the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

The defending champions Barcelona took the lead in the second half thanks to a penalty (53′) and a goal scored in added time (90+4) by Spanish international striker Alexia Putellas. Claudia Pina had just previously (88th) scored the second goal in favor of the Catalans.

Barcelona will host the second leg on March 30 in the huge Camp Nou, a temple of 99,000 seats where should be established an attendance record for a match of professional women’s teams.
