Almost 15 years after the original project was launched by Universal Pictures, we can finally see the first sequences of the film Barbie, now produced by Warner Brothers. The wait was definitely worth it, because the trailer starring Margot Robbie is just awesome.
Lasting just over a minute, the edit gives a taste of the tone of the film directed by Greta Gerwig, who also wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. The images also allow you to see Margot Robbie in the skin of the famous doll, who will take her first steps in the flesh in a live action film, after numerous adaptations in cartoons and 3D animation.
As for Ken, he takes on the features of an unrecognizable Ryan Gosling decked out in a look straight out of the glorious 80s. The costumes are precisely the work of Jacqueline Durran, who had previously worked with director Gerwig in Little Women. The predominant pink visual signature is provided by director of photography Rodrigo Prieto.
The romantic comedy, which was filmed from March to July 2022 in the British studios of Warner Brothers, in the northern suburbs of London, is due to hit our screens on July 21.
