(Nicholasville) Vincent Norrman bogeyed by narrowly stalling an eight-foot putt at 72e and last regulation hole, then he pared on the first extra hole to defeat Nathan Kimsey and win the Barbasol Championship.
It’s Norrman’s first win in 23 PGA Tour events. The 25-year-old Swede ended the day with a 66 card and the competition at 22 under.
For his part, Kimsey put up a 64-card to settle at 22-under. He then had to wait to see if it would be enough.
His chances didn’t look very good with Norrman and Trevor Cone at 23 under.
However, Cone sent his tee shot into the long grass at 16e hole, a par-3, which led to a double bogey.
The door was open for Norrman, but he got into all sorts of trouble at the 18e hole. His putt for the bogey just grazed the edge of the cup on the right side and then the ball fell to the bottom of the cup.
Kimsey is then the one who got into trouble in overtime, disputed on the 18e hole. He almost sent his ball into the water, then missed a bunker exit. Norrman did what was necessary to win.
Cone scored 68 and finished the day one shot away in overtime, along with Frenchman Adrian Saddier (66).
Veteran Lucas Glover, who led after rounds one and two, finished fifth at 20 under. He thus finished for the fifth time in a row in the top 10.
Canadian Taylor Pendrith finished the tournament in sixth place. He finished Sunday with a 66 card and finished his tournament at 19 under.
His compatriots Aaron Cockerill and Michael Gligic finished tied in 58 respectivelye position and tied at 62e rank.
