Barbados proclaimed itself a republic this week, and the country no longer recognizes Queen Elizabeth II as head of state.
This new republic of less than 300,000 inhabitants thus comes to teach Quebec a lesson in democracy, since this province is still subject to the Canadian constitutional monarchy and to its expensive representative in the country, Mary Simon.
