Prohibitions remained in effect in certain sectors of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the Nord-du-Québec region, Jamésie, Outaouais, Haute-Mauricie, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and North Coast.
In addition, bans on open fires in or near the forest and restrictions on working in the forest have been maintained.
The decision to relax the bans was taken by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests (MRNF) in concert with the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU). Both organizations observed changing weather conditions and saw new operational realities in the territory.
Thursday morning, 109 forest fires were active in Quebec, including 37 in the northern zone. At the end of the day on Wednesday, 26 of these fires were not under control, according to SOPFEU.
