More than 14,000 business failures were recorded in the first quarter of 2023, which is 43.6% more than the same period last year.

But last September, she had no choice but to sell her business.

Fixed costs increasingly difficult to meet

The fault, according to her, to the closures imposed during the epidemic. With a state-guaranteed loan of 39,000 euros to repay, debts and fixed costs that are increasingly difficult to meet, it is impossible to continue his activity. In recent months, small and medium-sized enterprises have been increasingly struggling, mainly in the agri-food, hotel and restaurant and trade sectors. In total, at least 55,000 business failures are expected this year, a figure that is back to 2018 levels.
