2:32 p.m. : Find in full the press conference of the Head of State in Brussels.

2:10 p.m. : “I especially saw scenes where many of our police officers and our gendarmes were the object of totally disproportionate attacks on the part of extraordinarily violent and equipped militants.

2:11 p.m. : “The country cannot be at a standstill.”

Asked about his ability to govern, the President of the Republic replied that“there is a democratic path on pension reform that must continue, it is the work of the Constitutional Council and its decision”. He also claimed that “Parliament continued to function”citing votes on energy in the Assembly, on the Olympics and Paralympics.

2:01 p.m. : Asked about the postponement of the visit of Charles III, Emmanuel Macron assured that “we would not be serious and that we would lack common sense” to organize a visit from the king when a new day of mobilization against the pension reform was announced by the inter-union on Tuesday.

2:08 p.m. : The President of the Republic also mentioned the situation in Moldova, which has to deal with the consequences of the war in Ukraine. “We will continue to accompany Moldova on its European path and to help it deal with the numerous destabilizations”he assured.

1:58 p.m. : Emmanuel Macron evokes the war in Ukraine, the first major theme of this European Council. “We reaffirmed our support for Ukraine to win the conflict in the face of Russian aggression”declared the Head of State who affirmed that the members of the Council had listened to President Volodymyr Zelensky by videoconference.
